About Restaurant Manager Wendy S Anderson Sc Interstate Blvd Jobs in Washington

Five Qualities Every Restaurant Host Should Have

Want to get a job in a restaurant that has nothing to do with kitchen work, serving tables or valet parking? If you haven't worked yet in a restaurant setting, you can't be manager. However, if you aren't shy about dealing with people, best you can do is to apply as a restaurant host.

What does a restaurant host do? It's their job to make sure guests comfortably make their place and enjoy the experience in the restaurant. They reserve tables for guests who book in advance, usher them to their tables, handle their complaints, and even take their orders, serve them and receive their payments. Though they rarely get tipped, they perform an important job in creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests.

Do you want to be a restaurant host? Then you need to have these following qualities:

Quick-witted – Every host should have the instinct to spot and resolve problems early on as to prevent any embarrassing situation for both guests and restaurant. They should prepare come what may, and they should be ready for pressure.
With photographic memory – With many guests in the establishment, it is no easy task for the restaurant host to keep track of every guest, but there is no excuse to forget what guest needs special assistance and who needs what.
Presentable – As the ambassador of the restaurant, make sure you dress smartly for the job or else you give the establishment a bad name. Don't scare away the guests – but welcome them into the comforts of your restaurant.
Gracious – Every restaurant host should be a gracious host, warmly welcoming the guests and attending to their needs, never leaving them out.
Full of smile – Of course, no restaurant host should frown before guests. This would be very unwelcoming or as if guests are walking into a wake.

It is not always easy for restaurant hosts to entertain all guests, but they should always do their best to accommodate them all and provide them the best dining experience.
